A historical archive

ErieHardcore.com is a project that documents the history of the hardcore, punk, and underground music scene in and around Erie, Pennsylvania. Its core purpose is educational, historical, and archival: to preserve a record of the bands, shows, venues, people, recordings, and artwork that make up this local music history so that it is not lost.

The site may carry advertising for upcoming local shows and may offer its own branded merchandise to help cover hosting costs and support the archive. Any such activity relates to the site itself and to the promotion of live events. The third-party photographs, artwork, recordings, and other copyrighted materials described below are not sold, licensed, or offered for sale on this site, and are not used on merchandise without the rights holder's permission.

Ownership of materials

This site contains material — including photographs, flyer and poster art, album and release artwork, logos, audio recordings, song titles, lyrics, video, and text — that is the copyrighted property of the bands, artists, photographers, labels, designers, and other rights holders who created it. Those rights holders retain all rights in their work.

The operator of ErieHardcore.com claims no ownership of these third-party materials and makes no claim that they are original works of the site operator. Where a work is credited, the credit reflects our best available information; corrections are welcome. The compilation, organization, database structure, written descriptions, and original editorial content of this site are the work of the site operator.

Fair use

We believe the use of these materials on this site constitutes "fair use" as set out in 17 U.S.C. § 107. The materials are presented:

  • for educational, historical, and archival purposes;
  • in a transformative context — organized, dated, cross-referenced, and annotated as part of a documentary record of a regional music scene, rather than for the original entertainment or promotional purpose of each work;
  • using only the portion of each work needed to identify and document it (for example, reduced-resolution images and short excerpts); and
  • in a way that does not substitute for, compete with, or diminish the market for the original works, and that in many cases drives interest and attention toward the artists and their releases.

If this is your work

We want this archive to be accurate and to respect the people who built this scene. If you are a rights holder and you would like your material to be credited differently, updated, or removed, please contact us at info@eriehardcore.com and we will respond promptly. Please identify the specific material and your relationship to it so we can act on your request.
